What commissioning includes
- Parameter setup based on motor and load details

- Acceleration, deceleration, limits and protection settings

- Functional testing with PLC, HMI, SCADA or BMS where applicable

Why does a VFD need commissioning?
A drive needs to be configured for the actual motor, load, control method and site safety requirements. Default settings are rarely enough for an industrial application.
Can parameters be backed up?
Often yes, depending on the drive platform and available tools. Backups and parameter records are recommended where practical.
